About

Born in northern Germany in 1968, Richarda started, after the usual period of kid’s paintings, with aquarelle at the age of eleven. After that she got into surrealistic water colour paintings probably by the age of 15 followed by coal drawings, which where mainly caricaturist portraits before she started working on canvas.
Besides of having painters in the family, her great uncle’s paintings are still on a constant exhibition in her birth city of Lübeck, northern Germany, and growing up with a wide circle of artist family friends, she found her inspiration in her family’s large collection of art books.
Influenced by works of Salvador Dali and Picasso, going through different styles of painting, she finally found herself in the abstract world.
While studying Sinology in Berlin, Germany she developed her abstract style paintings on large canvas and had her first exhibitions in Berlin and Hamburg.
After moving to Beijing, China in 1999 she continued painting and more exhibitions followed.
Richarda about her paintings:
“Although most of the paintings are named after animals, it is only after I looked at the finished painting for a while, that I see those animals taking shape.”
“In my abstract world it is just an urge to paint that comes from inside, the only outside influence I have is colours.”
